This autumn-winter, the buildings that house the onsite partner businesses at SYH will undergo exterior works. The improvements will give the buildings a more contemporary look, bringing them in line with the rest of the buildings onsite.

The project is a collaboration between SYH and two local firms; Wincer Kievenaar Architects and Lewis Culf Building Contractors. The exterior of the buildings will undergo a complete renovation, which will include cladding the walls with Siberian Larch timber and replacing the doors and windows. The double glazed glass will improve temperature control and heat retention, and the modern grey frames will deliver a smarter look. The upper floor of the building will be fitted with insulated industrial cladding (image below).

SYH Managing Director Jonathan Dyke commented, “We are continually investing in the SYH site to modernise and improve the experience for berth holders and visitors. The work will significantly improve the aesthetic and energy efficiency of the buildings and the site as a whole.”

Craig Western, Director at Wincer Kievenaar Architects added, “Wincer Kievenaar is pleased to support Suffolk Yacht Harbour in its continued investment in its facilities. This latest enhancement focuses on buildings set in the heart of the site. Our task in this case was to utilise the site wide palette of materials and provide a degree of unity. Modern aluminium glazing will be married with a contemporary timber cladding detail and a new projecting facia will provide opportunity for enhanced individual unit branding.”

Lewis Culf, owner of Lewis Culf Building Contractors, said, “We are looking forward starting work on this exciting renovation project at Suffolk Yacht Harbour (SYH).  We have worked closely with the teams at SYH and Wincer Kievenaar Architects, selecting materials that will improve the existing buildings visually, in their functionality, and energy efficiency.”

All onsite businesses will be open as usual during the building work unless announced otherwise. Click here for individual business contact details.
