Shake off those winter blues and get ready for some sailing; entry is now open for this year’s SYH Classic Regatta.

Founded in 2002, the popular, annual regatta is a mix of competitive, Corinthian-style racing on the water and friendly socialising and camaraderie ashore.

Entry criteria require sailing and motor yachts to be pre-1970 design and of traditional construction. Sailing yachts should have a Bermuda or gaff rig and be built of wood or steel.  Modern classic yachts with wooden or steel hulls are also very welcome.

Now well established within the regatta programme, classic motor boats are invited to join the ‘Parade of Power’ and social events on both Saturday and Sunday.

The three-day regatta kicks off with an optional early evening race on the Friday followed by a three-race series over Saturday and Sunday. IRC points racing for fast, slow and Stella classes takes place in Dovercourt Bay, Harwich Harbour, and the Orwell and Stour estuaries.

Ashore, the social scene centres around Haven Ports Yacht Club (HPYC),  housed in a renovated LV87 lightship.  The SYH marina takes on a festival atmosphere with live music, wood-fired oven pizzas, and everyone sharing drinks and stories on each other’s yachts.

Thanks as always to long-standing regatta supporters Classic MarineOneSails, and Evolution Rigging.

See you all on the water soon!
