This year’s Classic Regatta once again proved everything we love about classic yachting with fantastic sailing conditions, sunshine and socialising. We conjoined with Haven Ports Yacht Club to host our annual Classic Regatta. Now in its 18th year, the event saw 35 classic yachts from across East Anglia and further afield race in three classes (Fast, Slow and Stellas) across the weekend.

2017 Classic Regatta Report including new video

This year’s 16th annual Classic Regatta was a fantastic celebration with an array of striking classic boats and coastal racing and was as always, a real social event in the SYH calendar.  The turnout was high, as this year marks our 50th anniversary so it was a momentous occasion topped off by the gorgeous sunny weather. Read on for the full write up, results and images.

Classic Regatta 2017

Whether you're a keen racer or a social sailor, SYH's annual Classic Regatta welcomes boats of all abilities across fast, slow and Stella classes.  Taking place on 17th - 18th June, the regatta weekend comprises two days’ coastal racing in Dovercourt Bay, Harwich Harbour, and the Orwell and Stour estuaries.

This year’s Saturday night regatta party promises to be a lively and sociable affair. Post-racing drinks will be served on board the LV87 lightship, followed by supper, live music and a bar, with all entertainment taking place onboard the lightship. Tickets for supper are available either on the day from the Club Steward at HPYC or by prior booking on 01473 659658.
