On December 9, the administration offices moved to the building at the head of the slipway (the former Bob Spalding building) to allow redevelopment – significant enlargement and improvement – of the original offices.
Demolition work began immediately, and the new building is due for completion in late summer 2010. In the meantime, managing director Jonathan Dyke is keen to stress that it is business as usual. All telephone numbers, email addresses etc remain unchanged, and all the functions of the harbour are continuing as normal – just from different locations.

Please note that the chandlery is unaffected by the current demolition work on the main office building, and will remain open for business throughout the redevelopment project. The only change is that access is currently by the door on the north side (formerly the entrance to the mini market).

A book celebrating the eventful 40-year history of Suffolk Yacht Harbour is to be published early in 2010. It will be available in East Coast chandleries and bookshops – or direct from this website. Watch this space!
The 120-page colour paperback takes its title from what has been the biggest challenge facing the harbour: moving mud in gigantic quantities. But the story starts even before that, with the frustrations and planning battles of the 1960s.
