Changes to the recycling system introduced this year are being imposed by contractors Biffa. The original idea was to “stream” all materials for recycling on site, with separate bins for cardboard, paper, cans and plastic. But the contractors are now going to take all the “household” recyclables together, for streaming off-site.
This means that all the wheelie bins currently labelled cardboard, plastics, food and drink cans and paper will be replaced by bins labelled “Dry mixed recycling.”

Work on the new office building continues to progress apace. Now there is cladding on, the roof is on, and work is going on inside, including installing plumbing systems, underfloor heating, partition walls and stairs.
The project is still running to schedule, and within the next month or so we should see windows going in and Siberian larch cladding adding the finishing touch to the exterior walls.

A new marquee has been erected alongside the Harbour Room, and will remain in place throughout the summer, until after Clarke and Carter’s autumn Yacht Fair.
The marquee doubles the floor space of the Harbour Room, and will be put to good use during events like the Classic Regatta and the Felixstowe Regatta, and functions staged by organisations including East Anglian Sailing Trust, the RYA and of course Haven Ports YC. The facilities are also available for private hire for wedding receptions etc.
The new marquee makes the Harbour Room complex all the more attractive and versatile as it faces the waterside.

A number of new security cameras have been installed around the site – including a second camera at the entrance. One of the two cameras concentrates on cars and the other one on number plates – a valuable reinforcement of existing security systems.
