Tell us when you’re away

It’s getting into the main cruising season, and if you’re sailing away we need to use your berth to accommodate visitors – just as you expect to be able to use empty moorings at your destination.

So please let us know when your berth is free, and we will do our best to ensure it will be available when you return. If you’ve been away for a while, it’s a good idea to contact us with an ETA to make sure.

Berths are particularly in demand for the weekend of the Felixstowe Regatta,  July 3 and 4. Please advise us if you will be away that weekend, and when you will be returning, and we will do our best to work round your requirements.

It’s weedkiller time

The seasonal tasks of bank trimming and weed-killing have begun and will continue throughout June and July. The aim is to complete the work in the early hours before many people are about.

Contractors will be cutting grass banks, spraying  weed-killer on the hard-standing areas and topping the meadows. There should be no danger or problems for berth-holders and visitors, but it pays to be aware of this annual round of horticultural activity!

Harbour Room in demand

Bookings are coming in steadily for functions in the Harbour Room throughout the summer and into the autumn. So if you are planning an event and would like to hold it in the Harbour Room and adjoining marquee,  the message is: book early to avoid disappointment. Hosepipes replaced (again)

Hosepipes on the pontoons are being replaced. There is a continuing problem with them being stolen. If any are missing, please let the harbour staff know so that further replacements can be made.

Harwich Lifeboat pays a visit

Harwich LifeboatThe Harwich Lifeboat, the 17m Severn Class Albert Brown, was recently to be seen on the hard-standing area, while RNLI engineers and technicians carried out routing maintenance. She fits impressively in the SYH travel hoist.
