The SYH Blog
SYH has recently undertaken a refit conversion of the nearly new 27ft GRP motor boat Aquila from inland specification to a full seagoing coastal vessel.
The project included installation of 180hp Nanni diesel engine, a bow thruster and opening screen windows. Extensive teak deck work was carried out with teak laid on the deck, cockpit coamings, sole and the cockpit itself.
Aquila’s owner commented, “I had heard of Suffolk Yacht Harbour’s good reputation for refit work and they have certainly delivered; I am delighted with Aquila’s transformation.”
Aquila also underwent a fully refurbished interior, including spray application of Awlgrip to interior gelcoat surfaces, and a complete refurbishment of the galley, including Corian work surfaces and galley equipment.
SYH boatyard services manager, Joshua Major, added, “Aquila is one of the most extensive motor boat projects we have carried out at SYH. The refit has been comprehensive, involving a wide range of skills and collaboration with our onsite partner businesses.”
The SYH team also installed electric heads and full navigation packages, upweighted the batteries and installed a stainless Holdfast anchor and stem protection plate. All gelcoat surfaces were resurfaced and Boot top and antifoul were applied.
Aquila will head back to the south coast to her home on the Beaulieu River for coastal cruising.
