News & Events
Whether you are in need of boat repairs, chandlery supplies, a marina berth or advice on how to start a career in the marine industry, the SYH Open Weekend is the perfect opportunity to find out more.
With state of the art workshops, 75tonne hoist capabilities, two chandleries and 11 onsite partner businesses, SYH offers a ‘one stop shop’ for boat owners on the east coast.
Throughout the weekend, the workshops will be open for visitors to see current projects underway, including an extensive Stella renovation, a Fairey Huntsman 28 refit, a Swan 43 project and the restoration of Ryegate, the sister of a Dunkirk Little Ship. In the spray booths, a Princess 420 will be having Coppercoat applied and a Smartboat will be undergoing a custom respray in grey metallic Awlgrip with a red boot top. SYH’s experienced team will be on hand to answer any questions and show you the facilities available. Heading over to the main office building, visitors can pop into either the main SYH chandlery or the adjacent Classic Marine, which (as its name suggests!) specialises in fittings, tools and products for classic boat restoration and maintenance. Upstairs, the berthing team will be available for any marina related enquiries.
On Saturday, the 11 onsite businesses at SYH include sail making, rigging, sail training, engineering, electronics and stainless steel fabrication, will all be opening their doors for visitors to pop in and see what is on offer. So whether you are interested in a new set of sails, learning how to sail, need your rig servicing or you are not sure which navigation equipment is right for your boat, then look no further! If you are in the market for a brokerage boat, don't miss the Clarke & Carter Yacht Fair on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
If all the exploring leaves you feeling parched and a bit peckish, head over to the SYH lightship, home of Haven Ports Yacht Club, where you’ll be sure to find a warm welcome and a selection of delicious food and drink all in a waterside setting. Before you leave, don’t forget to take a peek at the modern new shower facilities in the harbour, which are on par with a boutique spa hotel.
No tickets are required for the weekend, simply turn up and make yourselves at home! For any queries, please contact Jonathan Dyke or Joshua Major on or 01473 659465.

Find out about sail training at East Anglian Sea School (above left) or head to EAST (above right), where there will be a boat jumble with a range of yachting equipment from lifejackets to wet weather gear and outboards. All proceeds will go towards the running of the charity, which provides opportunities for disabled children and adults to go sailing.
On Saturday, electronics specialist Seapower Marine will have a Raymarine trailer onsite (similar to the above image), which will give visitors the opportunity to test the latest navigational equipment and products on the market.
