Best practice onsite at SYH

Best practice website

The team at SYH does its utmost to ensure the site is a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.  However, the harbour is a busy place and it is important we remind you of a few guidelines we have in place to keep you safe and the marina clean and tidy.

There is lots of boat movement around SYH at this time of year so please do keep an eye out when walking or driving around the marina. We have a 15mph speed limit in place to avoid any accidents with other cars, boats or pedestrians; please do stick to this.  When entering or exiting the harbour on your boat please manoeuvre with caution and be aware of other boats underway.

We would also like to remind boat owners of safety procedures around the yacht cradles. It is vital that you do not adjust or Best practice website 1remove any supports after the SYH team has set a boat up in a cradle.  If you have any queries, please do seek out an SYH staff member.

Keeping pontoon walkways clear makes a huge difference to marina users’ safety and day-to-day comings and goings.  When you leave your boat, check you haven’t left any extension leads hanging in the water, or any lines or leads trailing across the pontoons. Please keep items coiled and to one side to avoid anyone tripping over them. Likewise, please check hoses are neatly stored and turned off to avoid wastage. Anchors and pulpits overhanging the pontoons can cause a dangerous obstacle for young children; please be mindful of this when mooring your boat.

Disposing of waste correctly helps keep the river free of pollution and protects local wildlife. We have eight recycling and disposal areas; please recycle rubbish where possible and only use these facilities for boat-related refuse.
