Following a successful launch of the new modern shower blocks beside the workshop, work has begun on renovating the facilities at the east end of the marina (beyond the harbour room).
This second development includes extending the current building to create a much larger space and will ensure berth holders, visiting sailors and motorboat owners are within a short walk of our new-style shower blocks wherever their boat is berthed.
The modern new building, which has once again been designed by local architects Wincer Kievenaar and will be built by BRC, will be almost identical to the first project including individual wet and dry areas, floor heating, LED lighting and modern fittings. The newly extended space will be well ventilated by the heat recovery extraction system, with plenty of room to enjoy a warm shower after a day’s racing or a weekend on the water.
The 16-week project is due for completion this summer and in the meantime the facilities opposite the lightship remain open and a temporary toilet block has been added at the eastern end whilst the building work is going on to ensure minimal inconvenience for marina users.
