This winter, our experienced team of boat builders were challenged with a short deadline and a tall order for an extensive refit on a Moody 54’.
Undeterred by a demanding timeline, the team started the project by removing, modifying and rebedding the keel, applying Coppercoat to the hull and giving the topsides a re-spray.
A full gel coat refurbishment has also been applied on the superstructure. Work continued with the construction and fitting of new hatches, port lights and cedar capping rails as well as the replacement of cedar decking, seating and the sole in the cockpit.
For the interior, the Moody 54’ had the bed in the master cabin extended before new cushions were added throughout. All of her heads were upgraded to integral bedays and a new washing machine and dishwasher were installed.
The work on this modern classic boat has benefited from the contribution of some of our onsite businesses. French Marine fitted a new engine, generator and a stainless-steel generator table, and Seapower Marine installed a new navigation lighting system along with GPS, radar and mast up and down lighters. Our team of boat builders also collaborated with Evolution Rigging to fit new standing and running rigging, and OneSails provided bespoke new cockpit covers, bimini and spray hood for protection from the elements while cruising.
After her mast was resprayed and stepped and a passerelle and davits were added, she was launched and commissioned at the end of February in time for her delivery to the Mediterranean, ready to sail in sunnier seas.
